YGG was founded in 2020 by Gabby Dizon, Beryl Li, and the pseudonymous Owl of Moistness. It began as a guild that bought in-game NFT assets and lent them to players — most famously in Axie Infinity — sharing the resulting yield, and is governed as a DAO around the YGG token with regional SubDAOs and community programs.

Products & Initiatives

On July 6, 2026, YGG announced it is sunsetting YGG Play, its casual "Casual Degen" game-publishing arm: the yggplay.fun site, Launchpad, and Community Questing retire, its flagship board game @LOLLandGame (built by Hype Reel) and waifusweeper (by Raitomira) stop running by August 1, 2026, and about 35 staff are let go. YGG Play also published GIGACHADBAT (Delabs Games) and Ragnarok Breaker (Planetarium Labs), which continue independently under their studios. YGG said it will redirect resources into the "AI data economy," building a B2B pipeline that supplies gaming datasets to AI companies; the YGG token and core ecosystem continue.

Through YGG Play’s publishing and Launchpad, YGG worked with independent Abstract studios including playgigaverse (its first third-party publishing deal, by GLHF), Roots of Embervault (Ruyui), and @ProofOfPlay. Those studios own their games; YGG’s role was publishing, growth, and community support.
