What D20 Labs is
D20 Labs is a web3 gaming studio founded in 2024 by Matt Wolf and Tommy Ngo, both former web3 leads at Zynga. It acquired Sugartown from Zynga and operated it on Abstract before announcing a wind-down of the project in July 2026.
About D20 Labs
D20 Labs was formed as a spinout when Zynga exited web3 gaming and sold its Sugartown products and assets to the team that had built them. The studio positioned itself around "rewarded play" and became the operator behind visitsugartown.
Products & Initiatives
Its flagship was Sugartown, a consumer web3 gaming ecosystem on Abstract. On July 8, 2026 the team announced via visitsugartown that it would begin shutting down all Sugartown services, citing a declining market for crypto/blockchain gaming and the loss of a technical dependency needed to launch its remaining games. It stated an intent to release the Sugartown IP to the community and to keep existing NFTs in holders' wallets.
