YGG Play Shuts Down as Yield Guild Bids Farewell
YGG Play, the Web3 gaming platform from @YieldGuild, officially shut down on July 31, 2026, bringing an end to its quests, games, and Community Questing features. The closure follows an announcement on July 6 that YGG Play would sunset its yggplay.fun site, Launchpad, and casual game titles, including LOL Land and Waifu Sweeper.
In a farewell message posted on the final day, @YGG_Play thanked players for completing quests, staking YGG, and supporting the platform since launch. @YieldGuild responded with its own note of gratitude, writing, "Every quest, every game, and every milestone built alongside this team and community will always hold a special place in our hearts."
Yield Guild Games, founded in 2020 as a play-to-earn guild, expanded into game publishing through YGG Play on the Abstract chain. The sunset of YGG Play marks a strategic pivot for the DAO toward gaming data infrastructure for AI applications.
For Web3 gamers, the closure signals the end of an era for one of the early play-to-earn communities. YGG's broader operations, including its YGG token and regional SubDAOs, remain active as the organization shifts focus to its next chapter.
