Fugz

Fugz is a community- and IP-driven NFT project built around 5,555 "Fuzzy Gopher" characters. Known for a prolific GIF and meme culture, the project has accumulated more than a billion views across Giphy, where its animated Fugz characters are widely shared. Fugz operates under the @FugzOfficial handle and treats its characters as the foundation of a broader animated IP.

Overview

The Fugz collection centers on its cast of fuzzy gopher characters and the culture built around them. Beyond the artwork, the project leans heavily into animation and shareable content, using GIFs and stickers to extend the IP well beyond the NFT holders themselves. Collaborations have included MetaFugz, a tie-in with MetaMask.

Migration: Abstract to Ethereum

Fugz originated on Abstract. In April 2026 the project began migrating its 5,555-piece flagship collection to Ethereum Mainnet, which is now its live, current home; holder claims ran on through mid-2026. Fugz retained Abstract-side activity alongside the Ethereum collection — the Collector Cards line was issued on Abstract in May 2026. The migration was handled as a snapshot-and-airdrop: the original Abstract collection was frozen and preserved as the legacy origin, and holders claim their NFTs on the new Ethereum collection, fugzofficial, via the official claim site at migrate.fugzofficial.com.

What makes it notable

Fugz is distinguished less by mechanics than by culture: a recognizable character set, a heavy investment in animation, and a community oriented around building a lasting IP rather than a single drop. The cross-chain migration, executed without abandoning the original collection's provenance, also makes it a notable case of an established NFT project relocating its live home to Ethereum.

Migration status, October 2026

Fugz's move to Ethereum is a snapshot-and-claim, not a token bridge. The Abstract collection was snapshotted and holders claim their Fugz on a new contract on Ethereum mainnet through the official site, migrate.fugzofficial.com, which asks holders to connect their Abstract Global Wallet "to migrate your Fugz from Abstract, to our new contract on ETH mainnet."

On October 8, 2026, Fugz said that, with Abstract winding down on December 15, it was making changes to its migration process for holders who still have Fugz in an Abstract Global Wallet. The same day it set December 14, 2026 as the migration deadline: the migration site closes that day, and everyone who has submitted by then receives their Fugz on Ethereum. Also on October 8, founder Yot (yotdog69) said a planned burn of unclaimed Fugz may not happen if enough holders migrate before the deadline, adding that "the burn will happen, with over 700 unclaimed" at that point and that "the final numbers will determine the final decision."

Fugz processes migration submissions every two weeks until the deadline. On October 9, Yot posted that "4887/5555 Fugz are now on ETH," a little over 88% of the collection. On October 16 he posted that "4907/5555 Fugz are now on ETH," about 89%, which leaves 648 Fugz still to be claimed. Fugz has not announced a final decision on the burn.
