Spellborne

Spellborne is a retro-inspired monster collector RPG on Abstract, built by Mon Studios (@MonStudiosHQ). It blends nostalgia-era gameplay — think creature-catching, farming, and dungeon exploration — with onchain ownership and player-driven economies.

What is Spellborne

Spellborne tasks players with exploring a pixelated world, capturing creatures called Mons, and building a roster for PvE and PvP combat. Each monster has distinct personalities, moods, and trust levels that evolve through care and battle, giving the collection system depth beyond simple stat progression.

Gameplay

Core loops include monster capturing and training, turn-based battles (PvE, PvP, and guild wars), farming and resource harvesting, fishing, mining, and item crafting. Players can also mint their monsters on-chain — establishing permanent ownership — and trade them in-game or on external marketplaces.

Economy & Assets

The BORNE token powers the Spellborne ecosystem: earned through battles and guild events, it is used for crafting, in-game rewards, and staking. Monsters themselves are mintable NFTs. In its first year the game accumulated over 175,000 signups, 32 million battles, and 4 million monsters captured.

Team & Backing

Spellborne is developed by Mon Studios, an independent studio building the game across browser, iOS, Android, and Epic Games Store. The project runs on Abstract with cross-chain support for Avalanche.
