What is Roots of Embervault

Roots of Embervault is the flagship game of Ruyui, the Abstract-based animation and gaming studio. It is a real-time pixel-art RPG where players protect the village of Embervault, uncover lore through quests and NPCs, fight monsters for runes and loot, and explore an expanding world set in the founding age of the studio's original universe.

Gameplay

The core loop ties together six systems: explore quests, real-time combat, resource gathering (wood, ore, herbs), brewing and cooking for temporary buffs, smithing to maintain equipment, and a rune-based character progression system at the Old Temple. Builds are entirely player-driven — spending runes shapes a unique character rather than following a fixed level track.

Economy & Assets

Gear, potions, and crafted items feed a player-driven open market. Abstract Runes earned in combat can be burned for onchain rewards, creating a participation-driven economic loop. Season 0 introduced a speedrun leaderboard with wave-based monster challenges. Onchain randomness is powered by Proof of Play.

Roots of Embervault is developed by Ruyui, the studio founded by Petek and Yan (@RuyuiStudios). The game is published by @YGGPlay (Yield Guild Games Play), which provides launchpad distribution and community access across the APAC region while Ruyui retains full IP ownership.
