DeFi Kingdoms is a cross-chain fantasy RPG that combines DeFi mechanics — swaps, liquidity pools, and staking — with collectible, tradable heroes and NFT assets.

What is DeFi Kingdoms

DeFi Kingdoms launched on Harmony in August 2021 as a game that presents everyday DeFi actions (trading, liquidity provision, staking) as fantasy-RPG quests inside a persistent kingdom. Its JEWEL token has served as both in-game currency and gas token since launch.

Gameplay

Players recruit and level up Heroes — NFTs with classes, professions, and stats — to complete quests, gather resources, and battle. The game expanded across multiple realms, including the Crystalvale expansion, each tied to a different underlying chain.

Economy & Assets

DeFi Kingdoms built its own Avalanche Subnet, DFK Chain, in 2022 to host Crystalvale using JEWEL as gas. On August 28, 2026, DFK Chain officially sunset and the project consolidated back onto Avalanche's shared C-Chain to cut infrastructure costs while keeping the game running. JEWEL and the secondary CRYSTAL token continue as the game's core economy on Avalanche.
