Korea Securities Depository
What Korea Securities Depository is
The Korea Securities Depository (KSD) is South Korea's central securities depository, the institution that holds and records the country's securities. It is building infrastructure connectivity on Avalanche as part of South Korea's plan to bring tokenized stocks, bonds and funds onchain.
About Korea Securities Depository
As the national depository, KSD runs the electronic records behind securities issuance and investor rights in South Korea. In its tokenized securities work it plans to connect that existing electronic securities account system to a blockchain-based ledger, to strengthen issuance and rights management for tokenized securities.
Products & Initiatives
On September 4, 2026, Avalanche announced that South Korea's Financial Services Commission and KSD were laying the groundwork to bring stocks, bonds and funds onchain, across issuance, trading, clearing, settlement and investor rights. In October 2026 avax said the Financial Services Commission's roadmap puts the first phase in February 2027 and that KSD is building infrastructure connectivity on Avalanche to help bring those markets onchain, with eventual onchain settlement as the goal.
Partnerships
In May 2026 Samsung SDS won a contract to build and operate KSD's tokenized securities platform. The Korea Times reported that Samsung SDS will build a total volume management system that tracks the issuance and circulation of tokenized securities in real time, plus the platform's supporting infrastructure, including a gateway system. Hanwha Investment & Securities separately built a tokenization platform on Avalanche after the September announcement.
