Who is Kevin Sekniqi

Sekniqi holds a PhD in computer science from Cornell University, where his doctoral research focused on distributed systems, cryptography, and consensus mechanisms. While at Cornell, he worked alongside Professor Emin Gün Sirer (/tags/emin-gun-sirer) and fellow PhD student Maofan "Ted" Yin on the research project that would become Ava Labs.

Notable Work

Sekniqi was part of the research team that developed Avalanche consensus, the sampling-based protocol that lets validators reach agreement without all-to-all communication. He co-founded Ava Labs to take that research from Cornell into a production blockchain network, and has continued to be involved in the company's growth since.
