What Hyundai Card is
Hyundai Card is the South Korean credit card company of the Hyundai Motor Group. It has run a stablecoin payment pilot on Avalanche to test faster cross-border transfers between Hyundai group companies, and is now testing whether the model works at larger volumes.
About Hyundai Card
Hyundai Card issues credit cards in South Korea. Its blockchain payments work is led by Heejung Nam, its head of payments and business development, who presented the program at Avalanche Summit in September 2026.
Products & Initiatives
The first pilot moved a 20,000 intercompany transfer from Hyundai Motor America to Hyundai Motor Mexico. Dollars were converted to USDT, sent over Avalanche, and converted back to dollars on receipt. Hyundai Card said the full process, including verification, took about seven minutes on average, against three to four hours or more for its usual interbank transfer; avax summarized that as a cut of more than 96%. Hyundai Card called it the company's first stablecoin-based cross-border remittance pilot of its kind.
It has since said the next step is proving the operating model at scale. Nam has also described extending the work to internal compliance, controls, reconciliation and transfers made outside banking hours, and Hyundai Card planned a second test with Hyundai Motor's European entities. No production rollout date has been announced.
Partnerships
Tether supplied the stablecoin, Avalanche the blockchain, and Axiym (/tags/axiym) the payment setup for the first pilot, while Hyundai led the compliance and settlement design.
