What DIFC Courts is
The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts are an English-language, common law court system in Dubai that hears commercial and civil disputes. Since October 2026 they have issued court orders and hearing records carrying authenticity credentials recorded on Avalanche's C-Chain.
About DIFC Courts
The DIFC Courts sit within the Dubai International Financial Centre and apply common law in English. Parties with no connection to the UAE can choose the Courts through an opt-in jurisdiction, so their orders often have to be presented to banks, authorities and courts in other countries.
Products & Initiatives
On October 14, 2026 the Courts began attaching a non-transferable, blockchain-verifiable credential to court orders and hearing records. A cryptographic fingerprint of each document file is linked to an NFT-based credential on the Avalanche C-Chain, and a recipient checks the document against it; any change to the file makes the check fail. The document itself and any confidential case information stay off chain. Transactions through the DIFC Courts Notary Service are recorded separately on Hedera.
Partnerships
The credential system was designed and implemented by Deca4 Advisory, which the Courts describe as their blockchain technology partner, and integrated with the Courts' existing document infrastructure. Ava Labs' Chief Business Officer, John Nahas, commented on the launch, which the Courts framed as their adoption of Avalanche rather than as a partnership with Ava Labs.
