Grab your reels! Gigaverse has announced it's third fishing competition, bringing another friendly competition amongst the giga noob population. Track your progress on the leaderboards while casting your best spell combos to seek out the Here's what you need to know from Gigaverse before you cast your lines.

The latest partnership with Gigaverse has created the new target fish: the Chimpu. The top spot in the competition wins a limited-edition NFT from ChimpersHQ! Current floor price for the Chimpers NFT collection as of this writing is .71 ETH (Roughly $2700) Other rankings on the leaderboard will be eligible for prizes as well.

Balancing Update: Fishing Skill Respec

A balance update to the fishing skills was released for this tournament. The changes aim to make skill customization more accessible while maintaining fair gameplay.

• The energy cost to downgrade a skill has been removed.
• The Temporal Hourglass cost for downgrading has been increased to four.

This adjustment allows players to experiment with different skill configurations more easily, encouraging new strategies to formulate.

New Gear Type: Lures

The addition of lures expands the game’s crafting system and introduces new mechanics tied to fishing. Using lure gear grants a Dual Yielding chance, giving players the opportunity to earn double rewards from a single fishing attempt.

The first lure that can be crafted is the Pengu lure. You can craft it using Gigapengus from the first fishing tournament. If you sold all yours, current market price for Gigapengus is around $2.67 at time of this article publication. Safe to say if this continues in future competitions, it may be worth stocking up on some more! Also might be worth crafting a Phingu rod while you're at it!

If you've never played before you are new, follow this quick guide to get started with Gigaverse.

• Press connect to pop up abstract chain wallet login (AGW)
• Create an account with email or other options
• Fund your wallet via the Abstract bridge or credit card
• Mint your character & set your username

Fishing 101

You'll start by selecting what type of cast you want to do. Each cast costs different amounts of energy.

Each round you'll start with a deck of spells and mana. Mana is used to cast spells or redraw your hand. The cost is displayed at the top of each card. If you deplete your mana, the fish will escape.

On the right side of your screen is your Catch Meter. When the Catch Meter fills to the top, the fish is caught. If it reaches zero, the fish will escape. Predict which way the fish will move. Your spells cast can either fill or empty the meter based on if the fish lands in the hit boxes and which spell you choose. If the spell boxes appear they won't catch where the fish will move, you have the option to redraw spells at the cost of mana equivalent to your spell card holdings.

While not every fish will be a Chimpu, you can exchange the other fish you catch at the fish market to level up your skills with seaweed.
