ZeroToHero extends its dynamic-NFT brand to Ethereum with Zero to Hero Academy - Analysis and insights

ZeroToHero, the Abstract-based dynamic NFT collection formerly known as Web3 Playboys, is in the middle of a busy June. On Abstract, the collection keeps delivering value-add traits to its Playboys Collectors Pass holders. And its founder, EJR (ejrweb3), is extending the brand to a second chain — announcing Zero to Hero Academy (zthacademy), a new dynamic-NFT collection on Ethereum mainnet.

On Abstract, the collection keeps shipping

ZeroToHero's defining feature has always been dynamic, evolving avatars — traits that change over time rather than staying frozen at mint. That cadence continues on Abstract: the project has been rolling out value-add traits to Playboys Collectors Pass holders, with a recent drop the team frames as part of a larger June expansion. The collection has stayed on Abstract throughout its history, including its spring-2026 rebrand from Web3 Playboys (the zerotohero handle was acquired through X's handle marketplace in late May).

The expansion: Zero to Hero Academy on Ethereum

The newer development carries the brand to a second chain. The team describes Zero to Hero Academy as a "brand expansion" of ZeroToHero — same identity, same evolving-trait thesis, a different network. Asked directly which chain it would launch on, @ZTHAcademy answered on June 20: "There is only one chain that makes sense for what we're building, and that's ETH Mainnet," citing the deepest liquidity. A day later it framed the goal as launching "one of the most impressive collections ever released on ETH Mainnet."

Tellingly, the two projects are being tied together: the team says it will time the ZeroToHero website rebrand to coincide with the Academy launch, rather than migrating the branding twice.

More traits, the same dynamic engine

Academy is pitched as a larger version of the evolving-trait system the Abstract collection is known for. The team says the new collection has "15 trait layers, with 11 of them fully dynamic," tested through a proprietary in-house "Trait QA Management System." These are the project's own figures — Academy has not minted, so they cannot yet be verified on-chain.

The team

Animation is led by Sloppy Pencil — Hugo Blendl, a former Rick and Morty and Solar Opposites animator who runs Sloppy Studios — who also handles ZeroToHero's art, alongside illustrator inkartluis. The project has shared character work, including a named lead, "Ash," and notes that marketing "hasn't even started yet." EJR endorsed the launch personally on June 9, calling it "one of the most technically advanced and meticulously crafted projects... backed by a stacked team executing at a relentless pace."

Timeline so far

  • First X Space — held June 18 (rescheduled from June 11).
  • Public Discord — opens July 6.
  • Trait-suggestion contest — June 19–26, with whitelist / presale access as the reward.

Open questions — what we're not asserting

No mint date, supply, or price is public. The relationship between Academy holders and existing ZeroToHero / Playboys Collectors Pass holders has not been spelled out. And the full team and collaborator roster — beyond EJR, Sloppy Pencil, and inkartluis — has not been disclosed. We'll record each as it is confirmed.

Coverage based on public posts from zthacademy, zerotohero and ejrweb3, plus public studio information for Sloppy Studios. Quantitative and forward-looking claims are attributed to the project; Zero to Hero Academy is pre-launch.
