Bunya launches Blupets, an onchain pixel-pet collection on Ethereum
Artist @bunya_eth has launched Blupets, an Ethereum-mainnet pixel-pet collection from his fully onchain Blupix universe — with a random-trait reveal, a burn-to-evolve Merge mechanic, and builder APIs on the way.

Artist @bunya_eth has launched Blupets, a pixel-pet NFT collection on Ethereum mainnet, as the first collection in his fully onchain Blupix universe (@blupixapp). Bunya rolled the project out over a few days in mid-June 2026, narrating each step himself rather than running a conventional PFP drop — "I'm a storyteller and an artist," he wrote, "and gonna do thing my own way."
This piece consolidates the launch into one place: what shipped, how the reveal and Merge mechanics work, the early traction Bunya has reported, and what he says is coming next.
What launched
Blupets is a collection of pixel "pets" that lives entirely onchain. Bunya describes Blupix as "fully onchain," with Blupets as its pixel-pet collection and a set of builder tools planned on top. The collection is listed on OpenSea as Blupets (Verified) on Ethereum mainnet.
Importantly, Blupets is a new project. It is distinct from Abstractio, Bunya's earlier pixel-art collection on the Abstract chain — Blupets is on Ethereum and is part of Blupix, not Abstractio.
The collection and its reveal
Blupets uses a random-trait reveal. In Bunya's words: "There is no rarity to the blocks. There is no specific traits tied to specific IDs. They're all equal now. Traits will roll randomly on reveal." In other words, every pre-reveal block sits on equal footing; nothing is pre-assigned to a particular token ID, and traits are rolled at reveal time rather than baked in at mint.
Announcing the reveal, Bunya said he was "wiring everything to mainnet NFTs" and opening the reveal "in the next 1-2 days," with the main @blupixapp account handling the lore "in a story telling way."
The Merge mechanic and the Bluprint tool
Alongside the collection, Bunya shipped Bluprint — a preview tool for planning a Merge. He describes it as "a simple preview to help you plan your Merge. Pick two colors, explore the possible evolution path, and choose the aesthetic you want for your Blupet."
The Merge itself is a burn-to-evolve mechanic: "To reach a final form, you'll need 8 NFTs of the same color and burn 7 of them." Why do it? Bunya leaves that to holders — "It's up to you. All onchain activity matters in my world." Bluprint lets a collector model the evolution path before committing any tokens to the burn.
Early traction
A day into the launch, Bunya reported strong early volume. "Y'all drove 100 ETH in volume in under 24 hours," he wrote. "Happy 100ETH volume to those who celebrate." That 100 ETH figure is Bunya's own self-reported number, not an independently verified statistic.
Independent marketplace data offers a separate read. As of this writing, OpenSea lists Blupets with 8,191 items, a floor price of 0.0252 ETH, and roughly $224k in seven-day volume. (Marketplace figures move; treat them as a snapshot.)
What's next
Bunya has signaled two things beyond the drop itself. First, builder access: "gonna share APIs for builders in the next few days, because Blupix is fully onchain and we will build a lot of tools on top. Already have a group." Second, momentum — he framed the launch as just the beginning ("It's not even 24 hours into everything, but I'm assuring you — we will move fast").
He has also tied the rollout to the wider community calendar, deploying the Blupix website from Kyiv around the @PudgyUkraine event in mid-June, where he says he is part of the team. "Website is done, gonna deploy it from Kyiv, so I'm on track with schedule."
