Bears and BURR to Ethereum: how the migration works, and why to finish before Dec. 15
Abstract shuts down at 00:00 UTC on Dec. 15, a day before the Dec. 16 last call after which unclaimed bears and BURR go to the team wallet; 48.7% of bears moved on day one.

Bearish opened its move from Abstract to Ethereum on Oct. 20, 2026 at 16:00 UTC. By 22:47 UTC the project reported 3,405 bears migrated, 48.7% of the collection. Holders of the Bearish NFT collection and the $BURR token who have not yet claimed face two deadlines: Abstract shuts down at the start of Dec. 15 UTC, and Bearish states a Dec. 16 last call. This guide covers what the project has published about the process.
Who needs to act
Anyone holding Bearish bears or $BURR on Abstract at the snapshot. Bearish's Oct. 18 post set the snapshot for Oct. 20 at 00:00 UTC, and the project confirmed it complete at 00:19 UTC. The FAQ on Bearish's migration page says trades after the snapshot "don't count" and: "If you buy a bear after the snapshot, it won't move to Ethereum."
The one-step claim
In its Oct. 18 announcement, Bearish described the process in three short instructions: "Connect your AGW. Pick your ETH wallet. Sign once." AGW is the Abstract Global Wallet. The post says there is no bridge, and that bears, BURR, Customs and rewards all come with the holder. Claims opened at 16:00 UTC on Oct. 20, and the entry point is the migration page, announced in a 13:53 UTC post.
At 16:06 UTC the project wrote that migration is live, that holders have two months to finish, and that there is no rush. At 16:14 UTC it added a fix for wallet connection problems: hard-refresh the page and press Sign again.
The migration page adds several rules. Smart wallets ("Safe, shared AGW") have a separate deadline: the page says they "must sign by" Dec. 12, 2026, 18:00 UTC, and its FAQ says AGW and Safe holders "must sign before the smart-wallet deadline shown at the top of this page." The FAQ also says "The first claim or designation recorded on Ethereum sets your receiving wallet for good," and "Every part of your holdings goes to the wallet recorded first on Ethereum." For holders whose Ethereum wallet is a smart account, the FAQ says "a smart account (a Safe, or a MetaMask smart account) starts with bears turned off, so BURR it gets later comes without bears," and that a "Turn on bears for this wallet" button appears after the claim.
On rewards, the page's FAQ says "BURR rewards stopped on Oct 15." It says every BURR reward earned and not claimed "is paid to you in full during the migration," and that "HiBEARnation BURR does not keep adding up on Ethereum."
Before the snapshot, the Oct. 18 post told holders to pull BURR out of pools and LP positions. The same post says sleeping bears move while asleep and keep the same start date, and that Red Berries keep dripping. It listed OpenSea trading (written "OS") as stopping late on Mon. Oct. 19.
Costs
The Oct. 18 post said signing is free and that claiming costs small gas, about $0.10 per bear on a quiet day. Once claims opened, Bearish changed course. At 16:32 UTC it reported that 1,550 of 6,988 bears (22%) had moved after 30 minutes and wrote "Gas is on us, big moves included." The day-one update says the team sponsored 550 migration transactions so holders paid no gas. The migration page's FAQ qualifies the offer: "Signing is free. While our gas budget lasts, we send everything for you for free. If we can't, you send it yourself and pay a small Ethereum network fee in ETH." Neither the posts nor the page says how large that budget is.
Bring a Bear and its lock
Separate from the migration, Bearish ran a Bring a Bear mint: 500 bears at a fixed 0.015 ETH each, first come first served for Abstract allowlist addresses. The page sets per-wallet limits by Abstract XP tier: 1 bear for Gold, 2 for Platinum, 3 for Diamond and above. The collection sold out on Ethereum mainnet, and the project said the full 7.5 ETH of proceeds went into BURR/ETH liquidity. The mint page also describes a day-90 refund: 90 days after minting, if a bear is worth less than 0.015 ETH, the holder gets the 0.015 ETH back and keeps the bear; the page says the refund depends on its listed conditions and available funds. It says bears are locked for 30 days after minting, and the project later added a reminder that locked Bring a Bear bears cannot be sold for 30 days.
Day-one progress
The 22:47 UTC update gave these figures for the first day:
- 3,405 bears migrated (48.7%)
- 414 holder wallets
- 80 Customs claimed
- 277K BURR in HiBEARnation rewards claimed
The deadlines
Two dates matter, and they are not the same.
Abstract's own migration page says Abstract shuts down on Dec. 15, 2026, and that users who have not migrated by then "will lose access to their funds." The page's countdown element is titled "Tue, 15 Dec 2026 00:00:00 GMT", which is the start of Dec. 15 UTC (Dec. 14, 7 p.m. ET), 24 hours before Bearish's stated last call.
Bearish's migration page says "Claims close Tue Dec 15 (exact time to be announced)" and "Anything not claimed by the deadline (Tue Dec 15) goes to the BEARISH treasury. That covers BURR, bears, Customs and rewards." The Bring a Bear page carries only a countdown banner reading "Claims close Tue Dec 15." Bearish's Oct. 18 post sets its last call at Dec. 16, 00:00 UTC, and says bears and BURR not claimed by then go to the team wallet. The project has not reconciled those two statements, and it has not said how claims would work once Abstract is offline. Holders who plan to claim should finish before Dec. 15, 00:00 UTC. For the Abstract side of the shutdown, see our guides on moving assets off Abstract before December 15 and the project deadlines holders face.
Scam caution
Bearish's Oct. 18 post says to use only the official domain, that the team never DMs first, and that any "claim now" post before the claims window opened is fake. The project's migration page is bearish.af/den/migrate.
What the project has not said
- How large the gas budget is, or how long it lasts (the page says gas is free "while our gas budget lasts").
- What happens to unclaimed assets if the Abstract shutdown on Dec. 15 occurs before the Dec. 16 last call.
- The exact time claims close.
