Base's Stocks Maxxing: the three tracks, the rules and the Dec. 5 deadline
Base opened Stocks Maxxing on Nov. 5: $100,000+ in rewards across three tracks, with submissions due by 11:59 PM UTC on Dec. 5, per its FAQ.

Base opened Stocks Maxxing on Nov. 5, a one-month competition to build tokenized stock products on Base. @base announced it as "$100,000 in total prizes", and the contest page lists "$100,000+ in Rewards" for a window of Nov. 5 to Dec. 5. @buildonbase summed it up as "3 tracks, 1 month, $100,000".
Who runs it
The official rules name Coinbase Technologies, Inc. as sponsor of the "Base Builder Quest - Stocks Maxxing Season". The contest page names six partners: o1 Exchange, Bankr, Stonks Exchange, BaseStonk, Feel.cash and Hydropump by Hydrex. It says Base "is not responsible for partner programs."
The three tracks
The contest page describes each track in a line:
- Meme and Community Economies: "Build new ways to organize memes and communities around tokenized equities." Seven partners.
- Agentic Stock Finance: "Build agents that research, earn or trade around tokenized stocks in novel ways." Three partners.
- Programmable Stock Markets: "net-new stock market primitives," with examples including custom portfolios, indexes, structured products, financing tools, prediction markets and market infrastructure. Three partners.
Under the rules, each track is judged and awarded separately, and entries compete only within their own track. Unless the contest page says otherwise, an entrant or team gets one submission per track.
The money and the calendar
The page's FAQ splits the "$100,000+" into three pieces: $50,000 in Base-track prizes, $48,000 across partner prizes, and $6,000 for a community-voted build-in-public award (contest page). Those add to $104,000. Per the rules, prizes are paid in USDC on Base unless the page says otherwise, and partner prizes are funded and awarded by the partner.
The contest page lists four dates: Nov. 5, applications open; Nov. 6 to 13, brainstorm with partners; Nov. 13 to Dec. 5, build and launch; Dec. 5, submit. Its FAQ puts the cutoff at 11:59 PM UTC on Dec. 5, 2026, and says teams that did not register can still submit.
Who can enter
- Individuals and teams. Entrants must be 18 or older and not residents of a country or region sanctioned by OFAC. Base employees, representatives and agents, and their immediate family and household members, are excluded. Teams can have up to five people (rules).
- New products. The page invites teams "building new tokenized stock products or adding stock-linked features to live projects." Launching a token is optional for a new product.
- Teams that already launched a token. The FAQ says teams that previously launched tokens "are not eligible by default," and that "A relaunch does not reset the token's original launch date." The page makes one exception: a team that launched a token between Aug. 5 and Nov. 4 can qualify by shipping a new stock-linked product or feature during the season.
- US trading. The FAQ states that "projects that enable trading for US users are not eligible" (contest page).
- Base link. A submission must be built on, or meaningfully integrate with, Base. An existing live product can enter if the submission form describes what was built during the contest period (rules).
How to submit
Under the rules, a submission has two parts. First, a public X post with a video demo of the project (the rules give a Loom recording as an example) that explains how it works and tags buildonbase. Second, the official submission form, which asks for the link to that post and the track or tracks entered. A submission is not complete until Base receives the form. No purchase, token holding or payment is required, and a project can be tested on a Base testnet, which the rules say will not be judged less favorably.
A panel chosen by Base scores entries against criteria on the contest page, and the rules call the judges' decisions "final and binding." Under the same rules, potential winners must respond within seven days and may need to provide identity documents, an IRS Form W-9 or W-8 and a wallet address.
What is not published
In the contest page and rules as reviewed on Nov. 5, these are missing:
- How the 50,000 in Base-track prizes divides across the three tracks, and how many winners each track has.
- The date winners will be announced. The timeline lists "Prizes" and "Winners announced" without dates.
- The judging criteria and any non-equal weights.
- The "published voting rules" for the $6,000 build-in-public award.
The page also says dates, reward amounts, partner participation and judging criteria "may change," and that Coinbase and Base may modify, suspend or cancel the campaign.
Why Base is doing this
Base's announcement post describes the aim as building "the next generation of tokenized stock products on Base," and the pages give no further reason. The context is public. Base's stocks page says its tokenized stocks are available only in eligible jurisdictions outside the U.S. On Nov. 4, Aave said SPCXc is live on its V4 market for Coinbase Tokenized Stocks on Base, and that users can borrow USDC against it. Our earlier coverage: how borrowing against tokenized stocks works on Base, a one-week AMZNc demo that splits a stock token in two, and Base's week of a stock-backed credit card and FalconX credit. Base's separate funding programs are in our grants guide.
