Onchain Heroes Details MoG 2.0: Combat, Items, Biomes, Special Rooms and Talents

Drafted by the Descout wire deskHow this was made

Maze of Gains, the onchain roguelike dungeon crawler from onchainheroes, is getting a new combat system. Revealed on July 30, the update gives every enemy its own attack pattern and range, forcing players to read enemy behavior, dodge incoming attacks, and counter effectively.

Mastering these mechanics will allow players to push deep into the Maze while barely taking a hit, according to the announcement.

The combat post was one of six replies onchainheroes published in a single 42-second thread on July 30, opened with "What is MoG 2.0? The game that took crypto gaming by storm - rebuilt from the ground up. Not a patch - a whole new game." The other five: items can be taken from breakables or bought in the Armory, with players holding up to three at a time; new biomes named Trial Caves, Poison Marsh, Frostfields and Magma Depths, each with its own effect; defeating mobs may reveal stairs to randomized Special Rooms — Shrine, Armory, Portal Gambit, Ringjak and one unnamed fifth; five talent slots, each upgradeable to three stars, for a fresh build every run; and confirmation that the maze "is no longer endless" and now ends on a final floor with an undisclosed surprise.

The finite nine-floor maze, the new battle system and the persistent upgrades were already announced with the MoG 2.0 reveal on July 1 and reported here on July 16. The July 30 thread adds the specifics, not the headline.

Maze of Gains runs fully onchain on Abstract and is playable across desktop and mobile. Each run competes for a shared weekly ETH prize pool, with leaderboard rankings determining payouts.

onchainheroes said on July 22 that the second MoG 2.0 playtest had closed and that Arcade Keys would go to players who gave feedback. The thread gives no release date for MoG 2.0.
