Onchain Heroes Confirms Abstract Wind-Down, Says Game Assets Safe
Onchain Heroes (onchainheroes) confirmed on Oct. 8, 2026 that player-owned assets in its Maze of Gains ecosystem remain safe as the Abstract chain winds down. In its weekly stats and patch notes, the studio said Ringbearers, heroes, and MoG keys require no action from holders, with next steps to be shared in a future update.
The post follows @LucaNetz's Oct. 6, 2026 announcement that abstractchain is winding down after Igloo Inc. lost tens of millions over two years, with the parent company shifting focus to Pudgy Penguins and PENGU.
Gameplay Changes
Three updates accompanied the Oct. 8 notice:
- Marbles retired. The mechanic players used to earn Abstract XP has been discontinued, with the wind-down cited as the reason.
- Expedition Pass refunds. Holders with an active pass can now claim a refund for the unused portion of their pass duration.
- Mini Jackalot. The game mode continues to always drop loot, a signal that some in-game loops remain live during the transition.
Context
Onchain Heroes is a game built on Abstract, the consumer-focused Ethereum Layer-2 engineered by Cube Labs within the Igloo Inc. family. The project was among the titles that drove activity on the chain, which had previously highlighted game volume as a discovery win for ecosystem apps.
What's Next
The studio said it will publish next steps for asset holders soon. For now, the guidance to players is that no migration, claim, or other action is required. Holders of Expedition Passes are the only group with an immediate, optional action available.
