Abstract Chain Announces It Is Winding Down After Three Years

@AbstractChain announced on Oct. 6, 2026 that the Abstract network is winding down, closing out a run of almost three years as a consumer-focused Ethereum Layer-2.
The team directed users with funds still on the chain to two exit routes: the Migration Hub at migrate.abs.xyz, or the chain's native migration path. No deadline for migration was given in the announcement.
Context
Abstract is the consumer crypto Layer-2 built on zero-knowledge rollup technology, engineered by Cube Labs — the Igloo Inc subsidiary formed after Igloo acquired the Frame rollup team. The chain launched with mainstream-onboarding features such as chain abstraction and passkey wallets, and was fronted by its green penguin mascot, Abster.
The first-party announcement follows earlier reporting on Oct. 6 that Abstract was shutting down as parent Igloo Inc. refocused on Pudgy Penguins and PENGU. The organization also scheduled an X Spaces for 3:45 p.m. EST on Oct. 6 with @CashBowie, 0xLoMel and @LucaNetz to discuss the wind-down.
What's Next
In a subsequent post, @AbstractChain described that message as its final one, signaling an end to official communications from the account.
For holders, the immediate action item is migration: funds remaining on Abstract should be moved through the Migration Hub at migrate.abs.xyz or the native route. The team has not published a cutoff date or stated what happens to assets left unmigrated.
