The Plooshies is searching for a new owner after revenue fell short
The Web3 gaming brand said in a July 9 thread that revenue alone could not cover team and infrastructure costs, and it is searching for a new owner, operator, or strategic partner. Founder Viktor is stepping back from day-to-day X and Discord activity but remains in contact with the search.

The Plooshies, the Web3 gaming and IP brand built around 3,333 animated 3D characters, said in a thread on July 9 that it is searching for a new owner, operator, or strategic partner. By late April 2026, the team wrote, it had become clear that "the market + product weren't generating enough revenue to sustain team + infra costs alone." A candidate emerged roughly three weeks before the announcement but did not work out, and the search continues.
The project laid out the run-up to that decision. Co-founder Viktor stepped down as CEO in February 2025, after NFT Paris, handing full operational control to the team and staying out of day-to-day work and public communication through September 2025. The team said it hit "real internal leadership challenges" that summer that "slowed everything down and created gaps in transparency." Viktor returned that November, in a transition the team said took four to five weeks alongside his full-time job. He backed the return with what the team called a "Plooshy Loan," a six-figure personal commitment, and the project brought on community managers, partnered with Elymics, shipped new mini-games, reported 30,000 in reach, and added a Hong Kong advisory team.
Viktor is stepping back again. He will not be active on X or Discord day to day, but the team said he remains in direct one-on-one contact "to find the right person/team/partner to carry Plooshies forward from what we've built since June 2022."
The team said whoever takes over "won't start from zero," citing "high six figures" invested across 2025 and 2026. It listed finished infrastructure, a vesting system, a working in-game bridge, deployed smart contracts, a token, and a game "many of you beta tested in April" as "a few steps from launch-ready," without naming the title in the thread. The Plooshies' central game in development is Plooshy Island, a browser-based multiplayer world the studio has been building since a 2023 prototype phase that drew over 10,000 players; its own docs describe a beta round in June 2025, a different date than the one referenced in the July 9 thread. Which beta the team meant, and whether it involved Plooshy Island specifically, is not stated.
The brand's 3,333-character collection — 3,333 fully rigged and animated 3D models of 11 unique characters, per its OpenSea listing — anchors games built on Abstract; the studio's first game to actually go live was the puzzle title Plooshy Pile Up, which launched on Abstract in December 2025, with Plooshy Island still in development. Descout first reported the ownership search on July 10.
