DYLI Retires Live Rip Subscriptions, Reprices Referrals in 48-Hour Overhaul - Analysis and insights

DYLI, the Abstract-based marketplace for authentic physical collectibles, closed its Live Rip subscription service on Sept. 2 at 2pm ET. After that cutoff, sealed boxes bought through the service carry no future utility, @dyli_io said. Live Rip items collectors had already opened before the deadline move into users' DYLI inventories and stay sellable, buyable, and shippable with no time restriction, according to the same post.

The closure lands inside a 48-hour run in which DYLI also repriced its referral program and claimed a major speed upgrade to its box-opening flow.

On Sept. 1, DYLI announced a revamp of referral rewards across its Boxes and Marketplace, effective the same day. Under the new default structure, referrers earn 1% of Box profit plus 0.5% of Marketplace spend on referred activity; DYLI Pro members get 1.5% of Box profit and 0.75% of Marketplace spend. DYLI's own referrals page lists the same standard-tier figures — "1% Box profit" and "0.5% Marketplace" — independent of the announcement thread.

On Sept. 2, DYLI also said its boxes now open at least 10 times faster, following earlier 2x and 5x speedups and an early-August "Turbo Mode" rollout. The company did not disclose technical detail on how the speed gain was achieved.

DYLI said it would cap the run on Sept. 3 by hosting a Pengu's World livestream on Whatnot, ripping Kakawow trading-card packs tied to the Pudgy Penguins IP at the OpenSea x Pudgy Penguins Collector Park activation in New York City. DYLI was listed as a participating vault partner in the Collector Park event, whose own listing said "every collectible on DYLI is stored in our vault, so you can buy, rip, sell, and trade instantly without shipping items back and forth."

DYLI pairs a digital trading layer with physical ownership across trading cards, sealed packs, graded slabs, and toys: buyers can trade items digitally while vaulted, or redeem them for shipment worldwide. The marketplace itself runs on the Abstract chain.

DYLI has not said why it retired the Live Rip subscription tier specifically rather than folding it into its other rip flows, or whether more referral-program changes are coming beyond the Sept. 1 rate revision.
