Avalanche Summit 2026 Preview: O'Leary Headlines NYC Sept. 16-17 - Analysis and insights

Kevin O'Leary is Avalanche Summit New York's headline speaker. Avalanche's official event site lists O'Leary — the Shark Tank investor and O'Leary Ventures founder — as its sole "Headline Speaker," and confirms the two-day event runs Sept. 16-17 at Chelsea Industrial in Manhattan (avalanchesummit.com; @avax).

An Aug. 17 post declared that "Finance's next decade is being built in the back office," inviting readers to meet the people doing it (@avax) — language Ava Labs' own events page echoes, describing the summit as bringing together "enterprise leaders, institutions, investors, and ecosystem builders to examine practical business applications of blockchain" across onchain finance and consumer applications (avax.network). The O'Leary booking came later: Avalanche said Sept. 2 it was "welcoming" the investor to the New York summit, its highest-profile name to date for the event (@avax).

O'Leary joins a speaker list Avalanche built out through August and into September, weighted toward stablecoin policy and institutional finance. Bo Hines, CEO of USA₮, will speak on the future of stablecoins and how policymakers are approaching blockchain; Avalanche's announcement notes that before joining the company behind USA₮, Hines was executive director of the President's Council of Advisers on Digital Assets (@avax). Grayscale's Zach Pandl will address tokenized products, stablecoins and DeFi adoption as capital moves onchain; Avalanche framed the appearance bluntly: "asset managers have a choice: meet it there or fall behind" (@avax). Jacquelyn Melinek, founder and CEO of StrataMedia — the company behind Token Relations, Talking Tokens and Crypto in America — will speak on cutting through crypto's "noise problem" with high-signal reporting and ecosystem intelligence; Avalanche's post on her appearance notes she previously led crypto coverage at TechCrunch and reported on crypto, DeFi and venture funding for Blockworks, Bloomberg News and S&P Global Platts (@avax). All three are listed on the Summit's own published speakers roster as of September 4, 2026, which totals roughly 120 speakers in all — O'Leary appears in the headline slot, alongside Hines, Pandl, Melinek and Ava Labs CEO Emin Gün Sirer (avalanchesummit.com/speakers).

Fan rewards and a media partner

A second track centers on consumer loyalty infrastructure built on Avalanche. Cleveland Cavaliers digital lead Brandon Jirousek — who Avalanche says built the team's digital operation "from the ground up," spanning web, mobile, growth, AI strategy and Cavs Rewards — will describe how the team keeps fans engaged outside Rocket Arena, turning everyday purchases into tickets, VIP experiences, merchandise and digital achievements (@avax). Avalanche has separately said NBA teams run those fan-rewards programs on the Uptop platform, letting fans earn points on everyday spending and redeem them for tickets and experiences while opening a new sponsor-revenue stream for teams (@avax).

John Timoney Gomez, Strategic Partnerships, Uptop, who co-founded the company before Rain acquired it to fold rewards into its stablecoin-payments stack, will speak on how falling payment costs are enabling onchain loyalty models, framing his thesis as fans carrying a permanent record of their relationship with a team (@avax). Sports Illustrated Tickets will also take the stage, explaining why it moved its ticketing operation onchain (@avax) — SI Tickets' NFT ticketing platform, Box Office, has run on Avalanche since 2024, when SI Tickets CEO David Lane called Ava Labs "a best-in-class partner" (avax.network).

Avalanche said Sept. 2 that The Block will cover the event as an official media partner of the Summit, publishing interviews with founders and executives live from the floor across the two days (@avax). The Block's own newsletter, published Aug. 10, describes its "Layer One" franchise as "brought to you in collaboration with Avalanche" and offers readers a ticket discount code — corroborating a real editorial relationship, though that piece stops short of the "official" language Avalanche used.

Tickets, and a scam warning

Avalanche said Sept. 3 that Summit tickets were "almost sold out," two weeks before the event (@avax). As of September 4, 2026, the official ticket page's header still reads "Tickets Available Now": a "Last Minute General Admission" tier at $200 — marked "Most Popular" — and a $50 Student Pass are both purchasable there (avalanchesummit.com).

An Aug. 16 post from Avalanche warned that authentic Summit tickets are sold exclusively through avalanchesummit.com (@avax) — a caution worth repeating this close to the event, when late buyers are the likeliest scam target.

Avalanche has now published a full, timed two-day agenda for the Summit, all times EDT. O'Leary's own session, a fireside titled "Thriving in an Uncertain World" with Ava Labs Chief Business Officer John Nahas, runs Sept. 17 from 12:05-12:40 p.m. on the Chelsea Stage. That same day, the Cleveland Cavaliers' fan-rewards panel with Jirousek and Timoney Gomez runs 11:25-11:45 a.m. on the same stage; on Sept. 16, Bo Hines' stablecoin fireside with Ava Labs President Charley Cooper runs 1:50-2:10 p.m., also on the Chelsea Stage (avalanchesummit.com/agenda).
