Team1 Africa Launches as Unified Avalanche Builder Network

Team1 Africa launched on Sept. 30, 2026, consolidating Avalanche community chapters across 10 African countries into a single regional network. The launch came from @Team1Africa_ and was welcomed by @AvaxTeam1, the account coordinating Avalanche's global community programme.

The network arrives with existing traction: 120+ events, 3,500+ attendees, and 250+ developers activated across the participating countries. Those efforts were previously run independently by city-level teams before being linked under one identity.

What the network covers

Team1 Africa will coordinate developer workshops and technical education, hackathons, stablecoin adoption initiatives, university programs and student communities, founder support, community meetups, and creator initiatives. Cross-border collaboration and pathways into the wider Avalanche ecosystem are also named priorities.

The stated gap being addressed is connection. Developers in different countries working on similar problems — cross-border payments, reaching customers banks overlook — have had limited visibility into each other's work. Each country chapter keeps its own language, culture, and operating style under the shared Team1 Africa banner.

Team1 is the Avalanche Foundation's global community and builder programme, structured as regional chapters that deliver local events, education, and builder support. Its programme surface includes Cascade, an ecosystem map and onboarding hub, a Builders Hub for early-stage teams, and a grants track funding community work.

The 10-country footprint and 250+ activated developers give Avalanche a distributed base for its African expansion. What to watch: whether the network converts meetup momentum into shipped products and funded founders.
