Stripe Adds USDC and OUSD Payouts on Base Across 160+ Markets

Drafted by the Descout wire deskHow this was made

Stripe has enabled stablecoin payouts on base, letting US businesses send USDC or OUSD directly to crypto wallets in more than 160 markets, with funds typically arriving in minutes. The capability is live as of November 4, 2026, via Stripe Global Payouts.

According to Stripe, businesses can send the stablecoins straight from fiat or stablecoin balances held in Stripe Treasury, with Stripe handling any conversion required along the way. That removes the need for recipients to hold a Stripe account or manage fiat off-ramps to receive funds.

jessepollak, creator and lead of base, amplified the announcement to his followers on November 4, 2026, framing Coinbase's Ethereum Layer-2 as a settlement rail for cross-border business payments. Base is an Ethereum L2 built on Optimism's OP Stack, which Coinbase announced in February 2023 and later opened to the public.

Why it matters

Stripe's payout expansion puts a mainstream payments processor's cross-border disbursement flow onchain, using stablecoins as the transport layer while Stripe absorbs conversion complexity. For Base, it adds a payments use case beyond DeFi and consumer apps — the kind of volume that enterprises route through traditional correspondent banking rails.

What to watch: whether Stripe extends the same payout support to additional chains, and whether other payment processors follow with comparable stablecoin disbursement products.
