Pudgy Penguins Merch Lands Korean Brand's Front Page

Drafted by the Descout wire deskHow this was made

Pudgy Penguins merchandise has surfaced on the front page of one of South Korea's largest merchandise brands, with some items already selling out, according to a post from quan_eth that pudgypenguins retweeted on October 1, 2026.

The post did not identify the retail partner. The claim lands amid a broader Korean retail push by the NFT-native brand, which has spent recent weeks activating in the market.

On October 1, co-branded Pudgy Penguins x LINE FRIENDS plush toys, blind boxes and figurines reached shelves at the LINE FRIENDS SQUARE flagship in Seoul's Myeongdong district, the same day a Huddle event was scheduled for the LINE FRIENDS flagship in Shanghai's Xujiahui district. Earlier in the week, on September 28, pudgypenguins amplified a Korea Blockchain Week activation for its Pengu Playground in Seoul.

A brand built for shelves

Pudgy Penguins began as a collection of 8,888 hand-drawn penguin NFTs on Ethereum. After Luca Netz acquired the project in April 2022, it was repositioned as a consumer brand rather than a speculative asset, expanding into physical retail with toys distributed at Walmart and Target that have sold more than 1.5 million units. The project later launched the PENGU token on Solana for governance and ecosystem utility, and operates Pengu Clash, an official skill-based multiplayer title published under the Pudgy Penguins IP with PENGU as its reward currency.

What's next

Pudgy Penguins is set to run a four-day Huddle series in Singapore from October 6 to 9, timed to Token2049. Whether the unnamed Korean retailer is confirmed to be an existing collaborator — and whether the reported sell-outs extend beyond the front-page display — has yet to be established.
