Jesse Pollak Says Base 'Will Be the Global Stock Market'

Drafted by the Descout wire deskHow this was made

Base lead jessepollak said on Oct. 10, 2026 that the Coinbase-incubated Ethereum Layer-2 network "will be the global stock market," a one-line statement of ambition posted alongside data on the network's expanding tokenized equity catalog.

The post quoted a breakdown from @MapKaZzzz of 19 new tokenized stocks added to Base over the weekend, including SONYc, NOKc, SAPc, NVOc, PDDc, NIOc, BIDUc, VALEc, INFYc, ULc, SKHYc, BUDc, SEc, WRDc, LIc, HSAIc, ARMc, BILIc and SANc. None of the 19 track US-listed issuers — the batch spans Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Indian, European and Brazilian companies.

The contrast with Base's first tokenized equity listings is stark. That initial group of four covered Nvidia, Meta, Apple and Google. The latest batch is the first to lean entirely toward non-US exposure.

According to figures cited in the thread, Base carried roughly 50 tokenized stocks going into this batch and 70–100 million in daily volume, numbers Pollak previously shared at Token2049. The catalog is projected to reach about 250 tickers by the end of October. Base's own Oct. 10 recap put tokenized-stock trading volume on the network at 500 million on a weekly basis.

The expansion sits alongside Base's institutional push, including an October partnership with SMBC Nikko to build a DeFi gateway for the Japanese market.

What to watch: whether the projected 250-ticker target holds by the end of October, and whether non-US issuers continue to dominate new listings on the network.
