Jesse Pollak: 1000+ Community Banks Will Use Base
jessepollak said on 2026-09-13 that more than 1,000 community banks are set to use base, amplifying a Coinbase announcement that the exchange is partnering with @Moov to give small and community banks stablecoin infrastructure.
According to Coinbase's post, the Moov partnership is intended to cover stablecoin acceptance, settlement, and real-time funding for over 1,000 banks, delivered through the technology stacks those institutions already run. Coinbase framed the arrangement as regulated stablecoin infrastructure.
Pollak, who leads Base out of Coinbase, positioned the network as the destination for that bank activity. Base is Coinbase's Ethereum Layer-2 network, built on the OP Stack, that settles to Ethereum and currently has no native token — transactions on the network are paid in ETH.
Neither Pollak nor Coinbase disclosed a timeline for onboarding the banks, the names of participating institutions, or which stablecoins would be supported. It is also not yet clear how much of the acceptance and settlement flow would settle directly on Base versus other Coinbase rails.
The claim lands as Base pushes further into payments and onchain financial infrastructure, a theme the network has emphasized through recent ecosystem launches and tokenized-asset initiatives. Community banks represent a distinct audience from Base's existing base of DeFi, consumer app, and NFT users, and their adoption would test whether stablecoin settlement can move into traditional banking workflows at scale.
What to watch: bank onboarding details from Coinbase and Moov, and any technical documentation showing how Base connects to existing core banking systems.
