Hyundai Card Stablecoin Pilot on Avalanche Cut Transfer Times 96% - Abstract blockchain breaking news

Hyundai is testing blockchain infrastructure to speed up development cycles and payment processing, following a Hyundai Card stablecoin pilot on Avalanche that reduced transfer times by more than 96%, according to a report from American Banker. The Avalanche network's official account (avax) highlighted the findings on Sept. 23, 2026.

The pilot, run by Hyundai Card — the credit card arm of South Korea's Hyundai Motor Group — measured settlement speed on Avalanche rails against conventional payment processing. According to the report, the company is now examining how transfers that clear outside traditional banking hours could reduce idle liquidity and extend the reach of its working capital.

That focus on off-hours settlement is a shift from speed alone. Idle liquidity — cash parked in accounts waiting for banking windows to open — represents a cost for card issuers and payment processors, and a network that settles around the clock can narrow the gap.

The update follows Descout's earlier reporting on Hyundai Card's plans for the Avalanche payments pilot, published Sept. 17, 2026.

Hyundai's test adds to a run of institutional activity on Avalanche in recent weeks. Paxos went live on the network on Sept. 17, 2026, bringing regulated infrastructure to more than 650 institutions, while New York Life Investment Management's 807 billion asset manager brought a tokenized high yield bond strategy onchain through Centrifuge the same day.

What to watch: whether Hyundai Card moves from pilot to production, and whether off-hours settlement becomes a standard metric in bank-issued stablecoin trials.
