Hyundai Card Eyes Avalanche Expansion Into Compliance and Reconciliation
Hyundai Card is scoping an expansion of its Avalanche-based work beyond early intra-company international transaction testing, targeting internal compliance, controls, reconciliation, and transactions that settle both during and outside banking hours.
The Korean card issuer's rationale was outlined by Heejung Nam of Hyundai Card, whose explanation avax surfaced on October 5, 2026. According to the account, Hyundai Card treated blockchain as novel and important early on, running intra-company international transactions on Avalanche as an initial test.
Those "strict needs" — compliance workflows, internal controls, reconciliation, and round-the-clock transaction windows — are what led the company toward Avalanche, per Nam's account.
The update follows previously reported milestones from the same pilot. On Sept. 23, 2026, avax highlighted an American Banker report that a Hyundai Card stablecoin pilot on Avalanche cut transfer times by more than 96%, and on Sept. 16, 2026, at Avalanche Summit, Nam outlined next steps for the payments pilot.
Institutional push on Avalanche
Hyundai Card's stated focus fits a broader institutional trend on the network. Avalanche has recently drawn tokenized fund and capital-markets activity, including Goldman Sachs' flagship Treasury fund via the permissioned Lynq network and a series of tokenized stock inflows, according to figures avax has published.
What to watch: whether Hyundai Card moves from pilot-stage testing into production use of Avalanche for compliance and reconciliation functions, and which of the named use cases — banking-hours or off-hours settlement — it details next.
