Hermes Adds Base Trading as Coinbase for Agents Goes Live
On Oct. 30, 2026, jessepollak, the creator and lead of base, highlighted that Hermes can now execute trades on Base. The capability follows @CoinbaseDev's announcement that Coinbase for Agents is live on Hermes, the agent platform built by @NousResearch.
Coinbase for Agents gives AI agents persistent memory, meaning context carries across sessions rather than resetting each time. The system also supports scheduled portfolio and research briefings that run unattended, and is designed so a single agent operates across multiple apps and surfaces instead of being siloed to one interface.
The combination puts an agent-native trading workflow directly on Base, the Ethereum Layer-2 network incubated by Coinbase. Base has positioned itself as a low-cost execution environment for onchain applications, and the Hermes integration extends that positioning to autonomous agents managing portfolios and research tasks.
Pollak, who founded the passwordless-identity startup Clef before Coinbase acquired it in 2017 and later conceived Base, has increasingly used his account to surface AI and trading-related activity on the network, including tokenized equities and AI-index products in recent posts.
What to Watch
The immediate question is how much of Hermes' scheduled briefing and trading functionality runs onchain versus through Coinbase's offchain rails, and whether the integration expands beyond Base to other networks. Neither @NousResearch nor Coinbase Dev has published details on supported assets or execution limits as of Oct. 30, 2026.
