Cambria Overhauls Netcode After Lag and Crashes, Handles 700+ Concurrent Players
Cambria has completed a significant netcode overhaul after several days of lag and server crashes, according to a post from developer cyberpunk on Aug 12, 2026.
The update addresses the high load generated by large groups of players in the same area, with cyberpunk noting that "700+ people in the same area casting multiple lines a second is no joke for servers." The overhaul puts the onchain MMO in a stable position going forward.
Cambria is a risk-to-earn MMO built on Abstract, featuring RuneScape-inspired progression, player-owned economies, and high-stakes PvP. The game has seen rapid growth this year, hitting a 625K daily risked volume all-time high on Aug 5, 2026, and surpassing $2 million in keys risked on Abstract in July.
With server stability now reportedly resolved, Cambria appears positioned to handle the continued influx of players across its core modes: Gold Rush, the Duel Arena, and Archipelagos. The same infrastructure will also support the recently introduced Dungeons Fishing mechanic, which has been a major driver of in-game activity.
The development team's focus on netcode performance suggests further scaling is expected as Cambria's player base continues to expand on Abstract.
