Anichess Season 10 'Ascension' Puts 300K $CHECK on the Line

@AnichessGame has announced Season 10 of its spell-based chess game, titled Ascension, with 300,000 CHECK in total prizes on the line.

The headline addition is the Masters League, which reserves eight seats at the top of the game and carries a 100,000 CHECK prize pool. The team describes it as the closest thing Anichess has to a chess title.

Season 10 also introduces a weekly events schedule, including Relic Rush, where players earn cosmetics simply by playing. On the ratings side, the season brings one final reset before ratings carry over from season to season going forward — a structural change that makes progression permanent after Ascension.

Anichess runs fully onchain on base. The game comes from Animoca Brands and Chess.com and layers spell-casting mechanics onto standard chess rules, a format designed to introduce unpredictability and narrow the gap between skill levels. It is endorsed by five-time world champion Magnus Carlsen, and the project's competitive series have previously given players a path to face him directly.

The announcement arrives after a run of product updates, including drag-and-drop controls added earlier in September. In-game progress is tracked through M8 (Mate) points, while CHECK serves as the ecosystem's strategy token.

What's next

Anichess says a full breakdown of Ascension is available alongside the announcement. With ratings set to lock in permanently after this season, Season 10 marks the last window in which the ladder resets before carry-over becomes the standard.
