Anichess Launches Road to Magnus Knockout Tournament

Anichess has launched the bracket stage of its "Road to Magnus" tournament, where the winners earn a game against world champion Magnus Carlsen. Per the @AnichessGame post, 16 players compete in a single bracket for four seats against Carlsen, with the knockout going live on June 14 and streaming on the Anichess YouTube channel and OpenSea (opensea).
The bracket follows an open arena Anichess ran the day before, where players climbed a Standard-mode leaderboard with no sign-up required; the top four from that arena advanced into the knockout. Anichess is a Web3 chess game on Abstract, incubated by Animoca Brands and built as Chess.com's Web3 partner, pairing classical chess with a spell-casting system under its Checkmate Ecosystem.
Carlsen is a partner on the project and the opponent at the finish line: the four players who win the bracket go on to face him. The tournament is part of the run-up to the Checkmate Ecosystem's planned token.
