Anichess Distributes 800K $CHECK Across Abstract and Base Pools

anichessgame has distributed 800,000 CHECK to player wallets, splitting the payout across its Abstract and Base reward pools, the project said on October 23.

On abstractchain, the distribution covers the Checkmate Reign OG pool and Checkmate Pass rewards. On base, it covers the Checkmate Reign public pool, Streamers League Stage 4, last week's events, and the Road to Magnus series.

The project directed holders to check their wallets and pointed Checkmate Pass holders to a linked claim page. In a companion post, Anichess said 100,000 CHECK went to Checkmate Pass holders as the Pass's last reward because Abstract is sunsetting, and that every holder also gets a Checkmate Pass in-game skin.

Context

Anichess is a Web3 chess game from Animoca Brands and Chess.com endorsed by five-time world champion Magnus Carlsen, layering spell-casting mechanics onto standard chess rules. Its Checkmate Ecosystem is powered by CHECK, which is being rolled into the game in stages. The game is Base-native, with its token, gas and contracts on base, while in-game item ownership is recorded on-chain.

Road to Magnus and the Magnus Cup are Anichess's competitive ladders that award players a seat to face Carlsen directly. Streamers League runs as a separate broadcast-oriented series. Checkmate Reign and the Checkmate Pass sit within the wider Checkmate pool structure that CHECK rewards flow through.

What to watch

Recipients should check balances on both chains, since the payouts landed separately on Abstract and Base. Anichess is also moving its OG staking pool from Abstract to Base, with staking entry extended to Oct. 25, 00:00 UTC.
