Gacha Pull Expands Its Abstract Card-Rip Market to Magic: The Gathering

Gacha Pull (gacha_game_) launched Magic: The Gathering pack rips on its Abstract collectibles marketplace on Aug. 13, the company announced — the latest of several new pack categories the platform has added in two weeks, after single-sport rookie-card drops in late July.

Gacha Pull runs pull.gacha.game, where users buy digital "rip" packs for a chance at real, professionally graded trading cards. The site markets itself on "guaranteed pulls," "real graded cards" and cash back on losing pulls of up to 95%. On its Pokémon Legendary Pack, a $1,000 pack, Gacha Pull lists a 55% minimum-value guarantee and a 92% buyback rate — the kind of downside protection built into its catalog.

The current run started July 31, when Gacha Pull launched NBA Rookie Rip, a pack line built around a PSA-graded Cooper Flagg Topps Chrome rookie card valued at $2,100, the company said. A day later, Gacha Pull reported one of its bigger secondary-market results to date: a PSA-graded Lamine Yamal rookie card sold for $93,940 "this month," according to the company, which gave no date.

Gacha Pull added a second sports-card line, Hall of Fame Rip, on Aug. 6, it said. On Aug. 10 it raised its weekly leaderboard prize to $5,000 and teased what it called its biggest pack yet, a $1,999 tier it said would launch the next day, per the announcement — Gacha Pull has not confirmed whether that pack shipped on schedule. Hours later the same day, the company pitched its graded-card packs as a way to get graded cards without paying PSA's grading fee directly, quote-tweeting a third-party post that put PSA's cheapest direct submission at $79.99.

That framing lines up with a real shift at PSA. The grading company paused its cheapest tiers — Value, Value Plus, Value Max and Value Bulk — on June 2 to work through a backlog that had grown past 10 million cards, leaving Regular grading, at $79.99 per card with turnaround now stretched to 50 business days, as PSA's cheapest active option.

The Aug. 13 Magic: The Gathering launch extends a run that had already added NBA Rookie Rip on July 31, and both Pokémon Vintage Holo Rip and Hall of Fame Rip on Aug. 6. Whether the earlier drops are still live is unclear — Gacha Pull's pack catalog, checked again Sept. 4, lists filters only for Pokémon and One Piece; the NBA and Hall of Fame packs are not browsable in the default view, and the company has not said whether those SKUs sold out, rotated off, or sit elsewhere on the site.
