You.com Adds x402 Payments on Base for AI Agents

On Aug 4, 2026, youdotcom announced it is adding x402 support to its Web Search API, enabling AI agents to discover, purchase, and use fresh web data on demand. The integration runs on Base, Ethereum's Layer-2 network, and was amplified by base with a post reading "Powered by x402 on Base."

According to You.com, the integration eliminates the need for API keys, subscriptions, or human checkout flows. For trading agents, search can now be bought programmatically at the exact moment a decision needs to be made.

The announcement builds on momentum for x402, a payment protocol designed for machine-to-machine transactions. Earlier in July, base reported that agents using x402 had spent over 52 million on the network, a milestone for its emerging agent economy.
