Tampa Bay Lightning Launch Bolts Rewards Fan Program on Avalanche

The Tampa Bay Lightning are launching a blockchain-based fan loyalty program called Bolts Rewards on Avalanche, bringing an NHL team onto the network through the rewards infrastructure provider uptop_xyz.
According to an announcement from avax on Nov. 3, 2026, Bolts Rewards lets fans earn points for attending games, making purchases, and supporting the team, with points credited nearly instantly. Fans can then redeem those points for tickets, merchandise, memorabilia, and exclusive experiences tied to the franchise.
Built by Uptop, a Rain company
The program was built by uptop_xyz, which operates as part of raincards — the card and payments infrastructure company. Uptop supplies the loyalty and rewards layer, while Avalanche provides the settlement network behind point issuance and redemption.
Avalanche is a Layer 1 blockchain whose ecosystem is supported by the Avalanche Foundation (avalanchefdn), the non-profit focused on network growth, research, and community programs. The network has increasingly courted consumer-facing applications, from DeFi deposits to loyalty and payments products, as a way to bring non-crypto-native users onchain.
The Lightning announcement marks one of the higher-profile integrations between a major North American professional sports franchise and a Layer 1 blockchain. Sports teams have experimented with NFTs and fan tokens in recent years, but points-based loyalty programs tied to in-arena attendance and merchandise purchases represent a more direct link to everyday fan behavior.
Neither the Lightning nor Avalanche disclosed a launch date for the program, the number of points awarded per action, or which blockchain rails handle redemptions. Details on those mechanics, along with whether other NHL teams follow, are worth watching.
