Avalanche Says Korea's Securities Depository Is Building Connectivity on Its Network - Abstract blockchain breaking news

The Korea Securities Depository is building infrastructure connectivity on Avalanche to help bring South Korea's tokenized securities markets onchain, according to avax.

Over the two months preceding Oct. 13, South Korea's Financial Services Commission outlined a roadmap for tokenized stocks, bonds and funds. The first phase of that plan is scheduled to begin in February 2027, marking a concrete timeline for one of Asia's most advanced securities markets to move onchain.

The stated ambition covers the full securities lifecycle — issuance, trading, clearing, settlement and investor rights — with eventual onchain settlement as the endpoint. The FSC's September roadmap release named no blockchain vendor. The Korea Securities Depository, the country's central securities depository, lists Avalanche in its technical guidelines as one of three supported ledger technologies, alongside Hyperledger Besu and Hyperledger Fabric.

An Institutional Track Record

The development follows a broader institutional push on the network. Avalanche reported 545M in tokenized U.S. Treasuries in the third quarter of 2026, a 4x year-over-year increase, and added 245.5M in tokenized stock market cap in September — the most of any chain that month. In late September, Avalanche said Goldman Sachs is bringing its flagship Treasury fund to the network through Lynq, a permissioned Avalanche L1.

Descout examined the FSC roadmap and Avalanche's place in it in September.

What to Watch

The February 2027 first phase will be the first test of whether the roadmap translates into live securities activity. Watch for further detail from the Financial Services Commission and the Korea Securities Depository on which instruments go onchain first and how settlement will be handled.
