Paxos Goes Live on Avalanche, Opening Regulated Rails to 650+ Institutions - Abstract blockchain breaking news

Paxos has integrated Avalanche, making the network live across the regulated financial infrastructure platform as of Sept. 17, 2026, according to an announcement from avax.

The integration expands institutional access to AVAX, Avalanche's native token, and Avalanche-native USDC, giving banks, payment providers and other regulated firms additional ways to build products and move money on the network.

Scale of the platform

Paxos's infrastructure serves 650+ institutions and supports 470M+ end users worldwide, per the announcement. The company operates across 150+ countries and holds more than $18 billion in assets under custody. Those figures place Avalanche alongside a regulated counterparty already embedded in existing institutional workflows rather than requiring firms to assemble new custody and settlement arrangements from scratch.

The addition of AVAX and Avalanche-native USDC to Paxos's supported assets is the operational core of the move: for financial institutions and payment providers, it means Avalanche-based assets can be handled through infrastructure that already meets their compliance requirements.

Building on a busy September

The announcement lands during a dense stretch of institutional activity around Avalanche. Earlier in the week, BlackRock's Maxwell Stein and Hyundai Card's Heejung Nam spoke on Avalanche Summit stages about wallet-level access and payments respectively, while Intercontinental Exchange's Michael Blaugrund said Avalanche "checks a lot of those boxes" for a 24/7 on-chain trading venue.

What to watch next is whether Paxos's institutional clients begin disclosing specific Avalanche-based products or settlement flows, which would move the integration from supported infrastructure to live volume.
