New York Life Investment Management (NYLIM) is bringing what avax calls its first tokenized fund to Avalanche, placing its U.S. High Yield Corporate Bond Strategy onchain through the credit platform centrifuge.

The product, referenced as HYB, gives eligible investors access to an actively managed portfolio of U.S. high-yield corporate bonds directly on Avalanche. NYLIM, an 807 billion asset manager, is moving a credit strategy onto a public blockchain, and the offering extends Avalanche's tokenized credit footprint into a corner of traditional credit markets that avax describes as new to the network.

avax announced the launch on Sept. 17, 2026. Access is limited to eligible investors.

Centrifuge provides the issuance infrastructure, allowing an asset manager to wrap a regulated bond strategy in a token that settles on Avalanche. In this arrangement, the traditional manager supplies the investment product while a crypto-native platform handles tokenization.

Other Institutional Moves

The announcement lands during a busy stretch for Avalanche's institutional push. On Sept. 16, Janus Henderson disclosed that it is now validating on the network and had taken an equity stake in onchain credit platform Tranched, while BlackRock's Maxwell Stein told Avalanche Summit attendees that blockchain can extend institutional-grade advantages to "anybody with a wallet."

Avalanche has also drawn interest from exchange operator Intercontinental Exchange, whose Michael Blaugrund said the network "checks a lot of those boxes" as ICE develops a 24/7 onchain trading venue.

What to watch: the size of NYLIM's initial allocation, the distribution partners involved, and whether other strategies from the manager follow onto Avalanche.
