LOL Land Shuts Down After YGG Play Sunset, In-Game Purchases End July 9

lollandgame, the play-to-earn board game on Abstract Chain, announced on July 6 that it will retire following the sunset of its publisher yieldguild's YGG Play arm. In-game purchases will be disabled on Thursday, July 9, and the game will transition offline by August 1.

The team cited YGG Play's broader shutdown as the catalyst, noting that they set out to prove the "Casual Degen" gaming thesis. LOL Land launched on Abstract Chain, blending classic board game mechanics with blockchain rewards. Players could earn YGG tokens and NFTs through two modes: free casual play and premium mode requiring NFTs.

The announcement marks the end of one of Abstract's early gaming experiments. The game's LOL token and character NFTs will no longer be usable after the shutdown.
