Gigaverse founder 0xdith has shared progress on a custom-built internal simulation tool for Gigling Racing, developed after a critical third-party infrastructure failure disrupted playtests in April.
The outage, which lasted 12 hours during testing, was deemed "unacceptable" by the team, prompting them to build the tool in-house. According to 0xdith, the extra development time allowed the team to model more "MAFFS" around the game mode and begin work on post-launch features.
"The math is math'ing nicely rn," 0xdith said, adding that the team plans to let the community host their own races with "whacky or extreme settings."
A hackathon is also in the works, with 0xdith expressing curiosity about what builders will create around the racing mode.
Gigaverse, one of the most successful RPGs on the Abstract blockchain, has amassed over 75,000 players and generated more than 10 million in marketplace volume. 0xdith, a former Stripe employee and Head of Business Development at Proof of Play (Pirate Nation), is also the founder of GLHFers.
No launch date for Gigling Racing has been announced, but the custom tool development signals ongoing progress toward the game mode's release.
