Charles Schwab Research Names Avalanche a Leader in RWAs, Institutional Use

Charles Schwab has identified Avalanche as a leader in real-world assets (RWAs) and institutional use cases, according to new research from the brokerage giant that the network's official avax account publicized on Oct. 21, 2026.
The research singles out two features as Avalanche's primary differentiators: its custom Layer 1 (L1) architecture, which lets organizations launch application-specific or permissioned chains while remaining connected to the broader ecosystem, and the network's concentration of "high-utility financial activity" — onchain usage tied to actual financial operations rather than speculative trading volume.
Schwab's assessment lands as tokenized treasuries, private credit, and other RWA products have become one of the most contested segments in crypto, with major asset managers and market makers evaluating which networks can host compliant, high-throughput financial workloads. Avalanche has positioned its custom L1 tooling as a way for institutions to retain control over validator sets and compliance rules without sacrificing access to shared liquidity and infrastructure.
The Avalanche Foundation (avalanchefdn), the non-profit that funds ecosystem growth and research, has published its own economic research on validator incentives and network economics in recent months, alongside developer-incentive programs aimed at builders shipping on the network.
A mention in sell-side-style research from an incumbent brokerage is a different category of validation than an ecosystem grant, however: it signals that Avalanche is appearing in the due-diligence materials of traditional finance firms rather than only in crypto-native circles.
What to watch: whether Schwab's published research is followed by concrete institutional deployments on Avalanche custom L1s, or remains an analytical endorsement without product commitments.
