BlackRock's Maxwell Stein Touts Wallet-Level Access at Avalanche Summit

Drafted by the Descout wire deskHow this was made

Speaking from the Chelsea Stage at Avalanche Summit in New York on Sept. 16, @BlackRock's Maxwell Stein argued that blockchain infrastructure can level the playing field for market participants by extending the same institutional advantages to "anybody with a wallet."

The remark came during a session at the two-day event, which avax is promoting around a roster of traditional-finance speakers. Summit organizers had previously highlighted participation from BlackRock alongside Fidelity Digital Assets, Apollo Global and JHI Advisors, with Kevin O'Leary positioned as headliner.

Stein's framing places wallet-based access at the center of the institutional case for onchain rails — the idea that settlement, custody and market access historically reserved for large balance-sheet players can be delivered through the same infrastructure to retail-sized users. It is a familiar argument at a conference where TradFi firms and crypto-native builders share the same stages.

Avalanche has spent the run-up to Summit publicizing enterprise and public-sector integrations, including a national digital identity vault in the UAE and a won-backed stablecoin out of South Korea, alongside university athletics rewards programs built on the network.

What to watch

Summit sessions continue through the event's second day, with additional TradFi and infrastructure speakers on the schedule. Comments from those panels will indicate whether wallet-level access remains a talking point or translates into announced products on Avalanche.
