Base Reports $35.3T in Cumulative Stablecoin Volume, Leading Ethereum - Abstract blockchain breaking news

Base, the Ethereum Layer-2 network incubated by Coinbase, has reported a leading 35.3 trillion in cumulative stablecoin transfer volume over the past year, according to a chart shared by the official base account on Aug. 12, 2026.

The chart, which covers August 2025 through July 2026, shows Base ahead of Ethereum's 27.9 trillion and Solana's $5.8 trillion in the same period. The post's caption, "Trillions. Every. Single. Month.," highlights the network's sustained stablecoin activity.

The milestone builds on Base's recent growth. On Aug. 9, the network celebrated its third anniversary, reporting nearly $5 billion in total value locked (TVL) and 46 trillion in cumulative stablecoin volume since its mainnet launch in 2023. Base also noted that it handles 90% of all x402 transactions, a protocol enabling agent-to-agent payments.

The network, led by Jesse Pollak, has positioned itself as a hub for onchain finance. In July, Base launched a Request for Builders initiative directing its Ecosystem Fund toward tokenization, stablecoins in emerging markets, and credit. The fund has already backed more than 30 teams.

As stablecoin usage continues to grow across chains, Base's volume leadership underscores its role in the broader onchain economy. The network has not announced a native token, with transactions paid in ETH.
