Base Partners with AWS and Travala for AI-Powered Travel Bookings

Base revealed on Aug. 18 that it is partnering with AWS and Travala to let AI agents autonomously search, book, and pay for travel accommodations, using the x402 protocol on Base.
The announcement follows a post from travalacom noting its integration of Amazon Bedrock AgentCore payments infrastructure into the Travala Travel MCP. That integration taps into a catalog of over 2.2 million hotels, with payments settled in USDC via coinbase wallets on base.
x402 is an open payment protocol that has become a key part of Base's agent economy. Base previously reported that agents spent over 52 million through x402 as of July 2026.
The partnership marks a step toward practical agentic commerce, giving AI agents the ability to handle end-to-end trip planning and payment without human intervention.
