Base Launches $100K 'Stocks Maxxing' Tokenized Equity Competition
base has opened Stocks Maxxing, a one-month competition with $100,000 in total prizes aimed at teams building tokenized stock products on the Layer-2 network. The program was announced on Nov. 5, 2026.
The competition directs builders toward tokenized equities, a category that has drawn increasing interest as issuers and infrastructure providers look to bring traditional financial assets onchain. Base framed the initiative as a push toward "the next generation of tokenized stock products," positioning the network as a venue for equity-linked onchain assets rather than purely crypto-native trading pairs.
Base, incubated by Coinbase and led by Jesse Pollak, runs on the OP Stack and settles to Ethereum. The network has no native token; gas is paid in ETH. Its recent ecosystem messaging has leaned toward consumer applications and, increasingly, real-world asset experiments.
What to watch for
Base did not disclose in the announcement which specific product categories — such as tokenized equity wrappers, yield-bearing stock structures, or trading interfaces — teams are expected to target, nor the judging criteria or submission deadline beyond the one-month window running from the Nov. 5 launch.
Base also has other programming in motion. Its Base Batches 004 Demo Day, featuring ten teams, is scheduled for Nov. 18 in New York City.
The Stocks Maxxing competition adds a financial-asset dimension to Base's builder incentives, which have historically skewed toward consumer social and payments applications. Whether the program produces products that reach production use — rather than competition prototypes — will be the metric to track once the one-month window closes in early December 2026.
