Base Declares Era of Agentic Finance Is Here, Powered by Its Network

Base, Coinbase's Ethereum Layer-2 network, declared on July 30 that "the era of agentic finance is here" and that it is powered by Base. The statement, posted to the official base account, points to the network's growing role in AI-driven financial applications.

The post carries a link to a video published on a coinbase post. Earlier in July, Base reported that agents had spent over 52 million via the x402 protocol, and it launched a Request for Builders program directing Ecosystem Fund resources toward tokenization, stablecoins, and credit.

Agentic finance broadly refers to financial services executed autonomously by AI agents, often using onchain infrastructure. Base, built on the OP Stack, has positioned itself as a hub for such activity, with no native token and ETH as the network's gas currency.
