jihoz_axie announced the launch of bAXS, a new token type that Axie Infinity plans to use for balancing game economies that deal with real-world value. The Sky Mavis co-founder describes this as another evolution for the popular Web3 gaming ecosystem.

The project will distribute 100,000 bAXS tokens through an airdrop to eligible users based on a February 5th snapshot at 00:01 UTC. To qualify, wallets must hold at least 10 staked AXS tokens. The allocation formula considers both users' Axie Score and their staked AXS amount, with voting power serving as a proxy for the calculation.

jihoz_axie positions bAXS as a critical tool for managing economic balance in games where digital assets carry real-world value—a persistent challenge in the play-to-earn gaming space. Axie Infinity, built on the ronin_network, has been a pioneer in player-owned economies since launching in 2018.

The announcement comes as Sky Mavis continues expanding its gaming ecosystem beyond the original Axie Infinity battler game. The company has not yet disclosed the full utility or tokenomics of bAXS, with more details expected following the airdrop distribution.
