Avalanche Brings India Agricultural Credit Onchain With Arya.ag

Avalanche is bringing India's agricultural credit infrastructure onchain, with Arya.ag and finternet_org leading the effort, avax announced on Sept. 10, 2026.
The initiative involves four to five major lenders, including Singularity Credit and Aryadhan. According to the announcement, Arya.ag sits at the center of India's agricultural economy, managing over $2 billion in grain across more than 12,000 warehouses and channeling credit to millions of farmers.
Under the plan, stored grain becomes verifiable, tamper-proof collateral on Avalanche, making each step of the lending process transparent and traceable. Avalanche frames the outcome as faster, more accountable credit for farmers.
Context
The announcement extends Avalanche's recent run of real-world asset and institutional integrations. Earlier in September 2026, South Korea's Financial Services Commission and KSD said they would bring stocks, bonds, and funds onchain using Avalanche, and Hanwha Investment & Securities unveiled a tokenization platform on the network. Those efforts focused on capital markets; the India initiative targets agricultural lending, a far larger pool of participants.
Arya.ag's warehouse network gives the project existing physical infrastructure to bridge to onchain collateral, rather than requiring new origination channels to be built from scratch.
What to watch is how the credit rails go live — which lenders begin issuing against onchain grain collateral first, and whether the model expands beyond India's grain sector to other commodity-backed lending markets on Avalanche.
